Simon Robinson is one of the most sought-after and versatile bass-baritones, both on the concert stage and in opera. He is known for his deep, rich, and powerful voice, as well as for the immense range of colors he brings to his repertoire.

Born in York, England, he is a prizewinner of the Innsbruck Baroque Opera Competition and the Wigmore Hall Song Competition in London. His brilliant performances have earned him widespread recognition as a recitalist and oratorio singer across the world. He has collaborated with conductors such as Raphaël Pichon, Helmuth Rilling, René Jacobs, Philipp Ahmann, Gabriel Feltz, Christopher Moulds, Christian Curnyn, Andrea Marchiol, Christophe Rousset, Benjamin Bayl, and Wolfgang Katschner.

In 2015, he made his opera debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Monteverdi’s Orfeo. In 2017, he performed to great acclaim as Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Würzburg Mozart Festival. This was followed by the title role in Otto (Telemann/Händel) at the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg with Le Concert Lorrain under Stefan Schulz. In 2021, he appeared as Pollux in Rameau’s Castor et Pollux in Warsaw under Benjamin Bayl.

His concert engagements include Bach’s St. John Passion with Raphaël Pichon and Ensemble Pygmalion, Haydn’s Requiem with MDR Orchestra, Bach’s B minor Mass with the Belgrade Philharmonic under Gabriel Feltz, performances with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Brahms’ German Requiem, and Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. In December 2022, he sang Handel’s Messiah with the Greek State Orchestra in Athens.

In recent years, Simon Robinson has also become a highly regarded voice teacher, giving masterclasses worldwide. In spring 2022, he held a short-term professorship at the Trossingen Conservatory.
